Q: Three number are in the ratio of 3 : 4 : 5 and their L.C.M. is 2400. Their H.C.F. is:
A. 200
B. 40
C. 80
D. 120
Solution: Let the numbers be 3x, 4x and 5x.

Then, their L.C.M. = 60x.

So, 60x = 2400 or x = 40.

 The numbers are (3 x 40), (4 x 40) and (5 x 40).

Hence, required H.C.F. = 40.
Q: If the sum of two numbers is 55 and the H.C.F. and L.C.M. of these numbers are 5 and 120 respectively, then the sum of the reciprocals of the numbers is equal to:
A. 120/11
B. 55/601
C. 11/120
D. 601/55
Solution: Let the numbers be a and b.

Then, a + b = 55 and ab = 5 x 120 = 600.

The required sum =1a+1b = a+bab= 55600=11120
Q: Ram and Hari can cut 12 kgs nuts in 2 days. After 5 days, Hari left the work. Ram took 8 more days to cut the rest of the nuts. If total of 58 kgs of nuts were cut, the time taken by Hari to cut 10 kg of nuts is
A. 3 days
B. 4 days
C.  2 days
D. 1 day
Solution:
Q: S, T and U can complete a work in 40, 48 and 60 days respectively. They received Rs 10800 to complete the work. They begin the work together but Tleft 2 days before the completion of the work and U left 5 days before the completion of the work. S has completed the remaining work alone. What is the share of S(in Rs) from total money?
A. 4960
B. 4500
C. 4320
D. 4860
Solution:
Q: Simple interest on a certain sum at 7% per annum for 4 years is Rs. 2415. What will be the compound interest on the same principal at 4% per annum in two years?
A. Rs. 914
B. Rs. 893
C. Rs. 704
D. Rs. 854
Solution: We know that,
S.I. = PTR100⇒ P = S.I x 100T x RAnd also,C.I = P1 + R100n- 1
From given data, P = Rs. 8625
Now, C.I = 86251+41002-1= 862526252-1= 8625676625-1= 8625 x 51625C.I = Rs. 703.80
Q: If the rate of inflation for the next 20 years is 2.5% per year, what annual income will be needed 20 years from now to have the same purchasing power as a $30,000 annual income today?
A. 69158
B. 49158
C. 39158
D. 59158
Solution: i=j/m
FV = PV(1+  i)^n
Q: For S = $21,000, payments (R) of $1500 at the end of each 6-month periodi= 10% compounded semi-annually. Find the minimum number of payments to accumulate 21,000.
A. 12
B. 11
C. 10
D. 13
Solution: S=R[(1+i)^n-1)/i]
Q: If the simple interest on a sum of money at 5% per annum for 3 years is Rs. 1200, find the compound interest on the same sum for the same period at the same rate.
A. 1271
B. 1291
C. 1281
D. 1261
Solution: Clearly, Rate = 5% p.a., Time = 3 years, S.I.= Rs. 1200. . .So principal=RS [100*1200]/3*5=RS 8000Amount = Rs. 8000 x [1 +5/100]^3 - = Rs. 9261... C.I. = Rs. (9261 - 8000) = Rs. 1261.
